I have been tasked with working up a proposal for redesigning the floor plan, carpeting, wall color, furniture, etc. of the library where I work. (The Director thinks I can do as well as the firm they hired, at prohibitive cost, to do over one room! For free! (Well, normal salary...)) (I GUESS that's a compliment! We are all extremely tired of the warm pinkish grey color we have now, but everybody has different favorites for any change. I wondered if you know of any books or studies about color in public buildings, psychological impact, sense of "welcome", anything like that, to which I can refer? This will be a huge and expensive makeover, and we really need to be happy with the results. (I'm currently toying with cream on the walls, with various shades of blue, green and teal as accents, both on the wall and in carpeting and upholstery. But that's MY favorite, not anything scientific.) We are interested in the "user experience" so it's important to not overlook the impact of color on our redesign, and if you (or Maggie) don't have any suggestions, Who Would??!! ;^) Thanks for any suggestions yo may have! All is better now but still have to watch how I lift or move around,no sudden movements..I'm sure you know about that.If you feel like having company some time between now and the end of Jan,send me and email and I can drop by..Take it slow,and let each day tell you how it is going to be.. I have a compression fracture in my back and can literally "feel for you." Hope you have a good recovery in 2008.
