I really enjoy making paper collages using magazine clippings.
Over the years I have made hundreds of Color collages, 11″ x 17″, intended for use as color references and teaching aids. Maggie Maggio first introduced me to intuitive color collaging at a Color Workshop we taught together in 1998 at Ravensdale.
When making these color collages they are most successful when they don’t include faces, allegorical references or attempt to tell a story. In 2001 I spent a delightful week on Whidbey Island making small (5″x7″) collages that did tell a story.
It wasn’t until I’d made nearly fifty of these small collages that I realized that seemingly I was creating a deck of hands= personalized Tarot deck of sorts as a visual journey…which is a great way to spend a few moments each day, making a small quick collage as part of a visual journal.

I just found the visual journal by accident. I’d never even noticed it before. I love the collages, Lindly, you’ve picked great textures and the colors are wonderful, of course!
I really thought your visual journal was most inspiring to look at and to think about as a point of artistic reference for ideas and colors.I was happy that your theme was hands because I love my hands and I treasure having the ability to use them as I get older! I giggled when I saw dancing/Italian/caviar hands because those cards reminded me of a dear beloved friend back home! ( Who is Italian of course!
)Anyway, thanks for your effort in your visual journal!
Fantastic!!!
