Colorful Roses…

roselavenderAdmittedly my chances of receiving a bouquet of Valentine’s day roses are about one in twelve million…but, just in case, I have been researching the meaning of the different colors of roses. Who could imagine that each rose color, rather than being chosen in deference to availability, the receiver’s favorite color or the predominate color in a room- would be laden with “meaning”? Just how many well intentioned S.O.’s have inadvertently sent the wrong message by arriving with a bouquet of the “wrong” colored roses?

I still remember the last time I received a florist delivery of lavender roses …and relish, cherish the memory! And it makes it all the more poignant that lavender roses mean= enchantment, majesty and love at first sight. Roses or not, I wish everyone a happy Valentine’s day!

“Purple adds enchantment. Can be transcendental. Possible need to proceed cautiously. The priests wear lavender during lent, a time of discretion. Purple can indicate opulence or majesty.” Color really can be a powerful way to communicate!
