One Space Left…

There is one space left in my Artful Afternoon Workshop in Annandale, VA this Saturday May 24th. To register please email me at Lindlyh@aol.com if you are interested.

Sizzling Stripes/ Textile Inspirations

Saturday May 24th, 2008 1-4 Upper conference room

$45 includes all supplies and polymer clay to complete your project.

Join Lindly Haunani, a nationally recognized colorist for a fun and illuminating workshop. While you may know just what colors you like, exactly how to mix them, using them in harmonious combinations can be challenging. Learn how to add impact to your polymer clay work with increased color confidence. You will learn strategies for designing and mixing cohesive color schemes, including how to choose a level of saturation within your comfort zone.

You will learn the secret to making successful “skinny” skinners and use these to explore making several different “sizzling” stripe patterns as laminates. In addition to having fun, you will leave with a series of wearable color samples. You will increase your awareness of how appropriate color choices and contrasts can add impact to your work. See how the three properties of color: value, hue and saturation dazzle and change when proportion, juxtaposition and surface are consciously adjusted. Ask questions, be ready to laugh and increase your color confidence.

Driving directions: The Packard Center is located in Annandale Community Park at 4022 Hummer Road. General orientation: If the Beltway were the circle around a clock face and noon was Wheaton and route 66 was nine o’clock, then the park would be just inside the edge at roughly 8 o’clock. The park is two blocks in from the Beltway, just off Little River Turnpike.

Get off the Beltway at Little River Turnpike (Rte. 236) and go east toward Annandale. Immediately get into the left lane, and make a left at the first light onto Hummer Road. Drive about a block and a half until the road starts to bend to your right. You will see a sign on the LEFT side of the street for Annandale Community Park; that’s what you’re looking for. Turn left into that driveway. When the driveway splits, take the fork to the right.

Continue up the hill and park in the parking lot on the left by the Packard Center. When you enter the front door, you will be in Artisan United’s Gallery. Go straight ahead to the rear of the building and make a left at the end of the hallway. The large conference room where the workshops are held will be on the second floor.

NOTE: If the Fairfax Public Schools are closed for a weather emergency then the Packard Center will be closed and class will be cancelled.
