Last Saturday at one of my Artful Afternoon workshops in Annadale, Virginia we made butterfly wing canes. Starting with ultramarine, cadmium yellow and fuchsia, the class made round Skinner blend canes from intermixes of these primaries (yellow-green, blue Green, yellow orange, violet, blue-violet and red orange) – all of these canes were taken to a light that was tinted with one of the component primaries and wrapped with a darkened -with balck- version of one of the component primaries…
- yellow green to cream yellow/ dark green wrap
- blue green to light blue /teal blue wrap
- yellow orange to cream yellow/ maroon wrap
- violet to light blue/ dark violet wrap
- blue violet to light blue/dark navy wrap
- red orange to cream yellow /dark maroon wrap
